During the recent National Stationery Show, Bryan from Yardsale Press paid a visit to our booth and showed us a super cute photo of his girlfriend Hillary opening her on-line sample sale bundle from Egg Press. When she wrote us the sweetest and most enthusiastic "thank you" saying, "Your designs are the greatest and I always get the best compliments when I send Egg Press cards" we knew we had to interview her. Turns out she's an all-around fun, creative person, just as we expected! Read on for a little Q&A and find out what gift Hillary says goes perfectly with Egg Press cards (I great idea for when you're searching for an affordable, fun gift that anyone would love to get!)...
How would you describe your style?
People have described my style as “bright and cheerful,” and I find that to be mostly true. I’d say Anthropologie-esque, if that could be a word. In particular, I’m really into stripes and polka dots right now.
Where did you get your love of correspondence?
It all started with this pretty excellent hot pink panda bear stationary I had when I was about six or seven. While my taste in stationary has evolved since that young age, I can always remember loving to write thank you notes and greeting cards to let people know I’m thinking of them.
Are you a crafty person?
I like to think that I can spot great craftiness and spread the word about it since I don’t actually design anything! My boyfriend Bryan and I frequent flea markets and are constantly looking for different types of furniture and house wares to add to our collection of eclectic items in our apartment – so I guess that makes me sort of crafty! As a screen printer himself at Yardsale Press, Bryan is definitely more crafty/creative than I am which is why we are a good match!
Do you tend to let cards speak for themselves, including just a brief note, or do you like to write longer messages?
I typically aim to write something brief, but then always end up writing on both sides of the card in a backwards manner!
What's the last gift you gave?
The last gift I gave was an Eggling to my friend Melissa. It’s a super simple gift for a desk – and goes great with Egg Press cards. ;) In fact, I totally gave her an Egg Press card with it now that I think about it!
What are your four favorite Egg Press cards?
My four Egg Press “heavy hitter” designs (or cards I frequently give to people) are...
Birthday Cheer Floral
Dot Thank You card (and the Dot Happy Birthday card)
Cozy Cottage Home Sweet Home
Happy Birthday Flags
How would you describe Egg Press?
Egg Press designs use a fantastic mix of patterns and colors. I love to see how the designs are evolving and I love the loose hand drawn feel of the cards. I’m also a big fan of tinier or interesting shaped cards – which Egg Press tends to design a lot of!
