We do all we can to support local schools and have been wanting to teach classes to young artists for years. An opportunity to partner with local public school, the Metropolitan Learning Center (MLC) presented itself recently and we jumped at the chance to participate. The class is a seven-week elective in letterpress printing and screenprinting where students (ranging in age from 12-14) get to learn about the business, technique, and art behind Egg Press. We keep it fun by mixing talks and training with hands-on activities to let the kids get their hands inky. We are excited to share our love of printing and to see what these young talents produce in the coming weeks!

Sometimes, we like to get out and see the rain from a different vantage. Today we took a trip to Steven Smith Teamakers– where the vibe is Zen and the tea is serious. They'd prefer you enjoy a cup of tea in their beautiful teahouse but you can take one to go if you have your own mug or cup. The spicy chai (No. 33) is our new favorite. We grabbed a bag of packaged tea to take with us back to the office and recommend you do the same!

Though there are many amazing plants in bloom, springtime in Portland can be soggy business. Around the studio this means lots and lots of hot beverages. Fortunately, in our Northwest Portland Neighborhood we have access to amazing artisan coffee and tea. We often start the morning with our friends at Risttretto Roasters who make the best coffee drinks around. Lucky for us they are right downstairs in the Schoolhouse Electric Factory building.
