WRITE_ON began with a personal challenge that Egg Press founder Tess Darrow set for herself to write 30 letters in 30 days. She wanted to jump start her letter writing habits and in talking about her goal, realized that the whole studio could benefit from such a challenge. The Egg Press staff was game. Our friends at Hello!Lucky loved the idea so much they decided to join us as well. We partnered with them to co-host a larger social media endeavor and invited the public, via social media, to join in, offering a free set of 4 custom WRITE_ON letterpress printed cards – 2 Hello!Lucky designs and 2 of our own.
We were blown away by the response to the campaign, which made a much bigger impact than we’d anticipated. It seems good old fashioned letter writing is something many people have been missing in their lives. When April was over we’d mailed 781 hand written notes from our studio and sent more than 2000 WRITE_ON letter writing kits (that's 8000 cards!). It renewed our commitment to our mission of helping connect people and inspired us to think about things we can create that may make it easier to do so.
