While we designed this card after receiving requests for a blank political postcard, we've dreamed up other times you might want to use it...

This has been like a dream come true for indigo and traditional Japanese textile lovers like us! The overall patterns are inspired by traditional Katazome patterns, a resist process that employs all-over designs. The result is rich and beautiful but totally modern. They're also totally unisex making them a great choice for men who need an all-purpose blank card.
On March 31, 2016 Schoolhouse Electric opened their beautiful showroom doors to host the second annual Write_On kickoff event with Egg Press in Portland. We invited hundreds of our closest friends and supporters to join us for an evening of letter-writing and merriment to launch 2016’s Write_On Challenge of writing 30 letters in 30 days during the month of April, National Letterwriting Month.
Each guest received a complimentary Write_On card kit that includes six letterpress cards and matching envelopes, a sheet of Strathmore Writing paper and envelope, and a Sakura of America Gelly Roll Pen, courtesy of Write_On founders Egg Press and Hello!Lucky, and its 2016 partners, Sakura of America, Mohawk Paper and Chronicle Books.
DJ Aquaman set the mood by spinning groove and funk-inspired vinyl, Union Wine Company provided beverages, QUIN Candy served up some extra sweet treats, we had lovely light bites from Elephant's Delicatessen, and it was nothing short of magical to see so many people gathered in one space writing letters, sharing stories, pinning flags on the Living Installation to mark where their letters were being sent, and witnessing mass handwritten correspondence in action.
We LOVED the fact that people brought their own tools to get creative and make their letters extra-special. There were stickers, calligraphy pens, photos, paints and paintbrushes, and even a wax seal! We set up a video booth to capture stories of letters written and received, and how they’ve impacted folks through time and history (we’ll share this piece with you soon!), and to take things up a notch, Schoolhouse offered a rare in-store discount for shoppers, and had three fabulous giveaways of their coveted showroom items, including a pendant lamp. We had a giveaway of our own that included various Egg Press cards, lots of awesome swag from our noteworthy friends of Write_On, and a collection of exclusive soft goods that are for sale this month during the Egg Press pop-up shop in Schoolhouse’s showroom.

This memorable evening was one for the books, and another reminder of how wonderful it is to experience Write_On becoming a cultural movement. By turning Write_On into a nonprofit cause in 2016 to continue promoting joy, creativity, expression, and connection through handwritten correspondence in even more communities, we feel thankful and grateful that our efforts are being so well-received. We have the best community ever, and appreciate your support so much!

The month of April marks the 3rd year of Write_On, a campaign during National Letter Writing Month where, along with our co-hosts Hello!Lucky, we challenge our customers and fans to join us in writing 30 letters in 30 days.
We've been planning all year and have BIG dreams of how to grow the event this year and make letter-writing a cultural movement. To kick off the event for 2016 we hope to offer 10,000 free letter-writing kits containing 6 letterpress cards (printed on beautiful Mohawk paper) along with pens donated by Sakura Of America, in the hopes that many more participants will rediscover the personal reward of writing a letter.
To reach our goals we're currently running an Indiegogo campaign that runs through the month of February. Our designers have created some really fun exclusive perks such as the advent-style 30 day calendar, stamp tote bags, enamel pins, and a letter-writing zine.
We're so grateful for all the support we've seen already and encourage all our fellow letter-writing enthusiasts to share their adventures online and connect with the growing movement with hashtag #WRITE_ON or to browse the nearly 8,000 hashtag results for some letter-writing inspiration.
This was such an inspiring project for Egg Press! We recently had the opportunity to work with our friend Woody of BAUM, creating an exclusive pattern design for the beautiful new venue "Cafe & Hall Ours" from which they made menus, pennants, napkins, and used on this nifty divider wall which created a dramatic impact. This looks like such an inviting and cozy gathering spot and we can't wait to visit this beautiful space on our next trip to Tokyo!
